Chairman Colin Livingstone

Welcome to the Emmbrook Residents' Association Website

Welcome to the website of the Emmbrook Residents Association (ERA). As Chairman, I would like to welcome you and I hope you find the content helpful.

This is my second year as Chairman of the ERA following on from Colin Livingstone who was the first Chairman of the Association in its present form. I have a committee made up of Vice Chairman Mike Gavin, Secretary Robin Gofton, Treasurer Phil Preston and Committee Members Bob Millen, Peter Shilham and John Turner - and we currently have five vacancies.

We are a non political association whose sole purpose is to represent the people of Emmbrook and their issues. This website reflects the range of things we do:

  • Environment - We are interested in our environment and have been involved in reducing the annoying litter and graffiti occurring on our streets.
  • Road safety - We take an active interest in road safety and the protection of the children and older residents of Emmbrook.
  • Planning - The biggest blight in the South East of England and we are very active in trying to stop developers building wherever there is space, cramming in houses in back gardens and basically removing the countryside around Emmbrook simply for the profit motive. We have been highly successful in this and will continue to oppose needless development.
  • Schools - We were highly successful in opposing the relocation of The Emmbrook School, fighting Wokingham District Council to keep the school where the name suggests it should be. We are now working with the school to make sure it is prioritised for refurbishment. We are also working with all three Emmbrook Schools to create community projects to foster the integration of the schools within the community.
  • Anti-social behaviour - Like any other community, we suffer from this and some residents have been the victims of criminal damage to their property. We are working with Thames Valley Police to ensure we give maximum support to the local community police officer.

The website also contains some of our success stories and information on how you can contact us and join us.

All of us on the committee are volunteers and work hard simply because we enjoy living in Emmbrook and want to continue to keep it as a quiet residential area where young, old, and middle-aged alike feel safe and enjoy the company of each other.

I would urge all of you to take time to look around our website and if you have any ideas, questions to ask, or comments to make then please make contact with us.
